I want to let you know that I’m feeling led by the Spirit to take a brief break from our series in Luke, so that we can do 4 week topical series called, “Embracing Weakness: Finding Strength in an Unlikely Source.” The reason I am doing this is because two weeks ago, I wrote a short blog post about walls coming down in our building renovations and how that made me think about how God wants to bring down walls in our lives. I wasn’t expecting any comments as it was more just an update about our renovations, but I got more feedback about that post than almost any others that I have done. I get the sense that many in our church have walls up, as they try to cover over weaknesses and that’s because we have an under developed theology of weakness. So after praying and talking with the guys on the pastoral track, I feel like the Spirit wants us to dig into this more. So here is where we are going to be headed
July 7th- 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 God’s power is made perfect IN weakness. Not in getting through weaknesses, getting over weaknesses, or being delivered from weaknesses. God’s power comes from the persistent ongoing experience of being weak, because God’s power is the power of Grace.
July 14th- Psalm 88. What would you do if a friend shared like this over coffee or in a small group? We are going to see the grace present in this honest vulnerability and the power present in having a testimony of struggle.
July 21st- Ephesians 6:10-18. There is a reality to spiritual warfare that I think we often don’t think about. And so we are unprepared for how Satan wants to mess with us in our weakness. We need to experience the strength of God that comes through putting His armor on, which is the armor of an identity in Christ.
July 28th- Matthew 6:5-9. One of the primary ways of experiencing God’s strength in our weakness is through prayer. But we often can have misguided ideas about what it means to come to God in prayer. We are going to look at how he welcomes us as his children and how prayer is less about structure, timing and form and more about relationship.
I believe God has rich things in store for us as he breaks down walls that we can hide our weaknesses behind. I’d encourage you to pray and be open to how God wants to speak to you.

Summer Festival Flyer:
Please find included in today’s program a flyer for our annual Summer Festival at Dickinson Square Park, on July 27th (rain date is August 3rd). With your help, this year’s event promises to be a fun time with our neighbors and a great chance to show them Jesus’ love. As a church we want to be actively inviting people, praying for the event and anticipating how God will move. Please consider inviting at least one neighbor with the flyer in this program. There are more flyers located at the Info Table. You will also notice the invite is bi-lingual, as this is a small way for us to be positioned to love and value some of our neighbors whose first language is not English.
We will be meeting up immediately after the church service on July 14th to head down for a day of fun at Wildwood. Youth ages 12-18 years old are invited to join us. RSVP is required. For more info or to RSVP email Joe Catoe: email@example.com.
Praise and Prayer Night
We are feeling led by the Holy Spirit to have a church wide prayer meeting. So on Wednesday July, 24th, we will gather at the church building from 6:30pm-8pm for praise and prayer. Children are welcome to come and join us, but please note that child care will not be provided.
