Pre Service Prayer-9am
On Sunday, September 22nd we will be having a luncheon immediately following our worship service. Not only will this be a great time to fellowship, but we will also be giving some important updates regarding our church. All are welcome to attend.
New Members Class
Immediately following our worship services on October 6th and 13th we will be having a class for anyone who is interested in more information about the Biblical practice of church membership and how to get involved as a member with Christ Church. Whether you’ve been a long time church attender, or if Christ Church is the first church you have ever come to, our hope is that this would be a good next step in your faith journey. Lunch is provided and child care is available upon request. Register at: christchurchsouthphilly.org/card/new-members-class/
Praise and Prayer Night
We have rescheduled our prayer and praise night to September 29th at 5:30pm to allow for more participation. We will be singing and praying together as we seek God in spiritual unity. Children are welcome to come.
Kirkbride ESL Classes
God continues to give us opportunities to partner with Kirkbride School, one of our local K-8 schools. We are doing another semester of serving the immigrant community at Kirkbride through ESL (English as a Second Language) and homework help. The new session will be Tuesday, September 24th through Tuesday, November 26th (9 weeks of class) from 3:15-5pm. We need more volunteers to be able to support the program. If you are interested in helping, get in touch with Claire (firstname.lastname@example.org). More details will be shared next week.
Sermon: Being devoted in an age of distraction

Sharing the Lord’s Supper
Responding to God’s word in Song
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:1-2 ESV)
