Hi Friends,
The city has announced that they are lifting the mask mandate for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people this Friday, June 11th. This is definitely surprising as Philadelphia has consistently lagged behind what the rest of the State is doing, and PA had said that they would not lift the mask mandate until June 28th. On the one hand, praise God that after 15 long months, we are returning to normalcy! It is encouraging to see the COVID-19 numbers continue to rapidly decline as we move past this pandemic. However, there is a legal battle between the State and the City about whether Philadelphia has the authority to remove a mandate issued by the State. We don’t want to get in the middle of that fight, so we are waiting to see how things shake out next week and see how other organizations in the city respond before implementing any changes to our masking policies. Also, we know that a few families have not been back in person yet, so we want to give them the opportunity to come this Sunday to a masked service so that it is not a complete culture shock for them to come straight into an unmasked service.
May we continue to bear with one another in love and unity as we try to navigate this rapidly changing situation. Praise God that things are going in a positive direction!
