Hi Friends,

Authority can almost feel like a dirty word.  It comes natural to resist authority, especially when we don’t trust authority.  But what if Jesus is different?  What if Jesus and His authority is actually something that bring incredible freedom in our lives?  Join us this Sunday at 10am as we study Luke 16:16-18 and look at Authority Issues.  It’s going to be the best day of the week!

Sunday Prayer Meeting 9am at Front and Mifflin

Small Groups: This week join us in our new series called “Gospel in Life.” We live in a world starving for some good news. Yet as followers of Christ we are privy to the greatest news ever told. This series is an eight session video curriculum by pastor and author Tim Keller in which we seek to grow in our understanding of the good news of the Gospel, and our effectiveness in sharing it with those around us. Our bi-weekly Small Group meetings are held Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night at 7:30pm. Sign up at: christchurchsouthphilly.org/church-online.

Prayer and Praise Night: We look forward to our next night of prayer and worship on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 6pm. Save the date, more details to come.

Women’s Bible Study: This Fall, join other women in a study of the Sermon on the Mount.  The meeting times will include a review of personal study and watching a video together by Jen Wilkin.  We will meet every other week beginning on October 4th on Sunday afternoons, Monday nights and Friday mornings. In addition, on Saturday mornings there is a group doing an inductive study of 2 Peter.  If you have never studied a book of the Bible and are confused about how to do so we’d encourage you to participate in this study. Tutoring K-6 grades at Christ Church: We have an exciting opportunity to support our community through in-person tutoring for kids grades K-6 after school.  In the past, we have provided homework help at Kirkbride School.  This year, we will be hosting a tutoring program for neighborhood kids at Christ Church!  The program will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15-6:00pm from October 5 through December 16.  We are in need of volunteers to help with registration, sanitizing, and tutoring.  Masks and social distancing required.  If you are interested or want more information, please fill out the interest form https://forms.gle/DMHrv1PB3dkn5fqEA or email Jessie McCurley (mccurleyclan14@gmail.com) or Claire Bermudez (claire.bermudez@gmail.com).

Responding to God’s word in Song and Communion

  1. O Come to the Altar

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Mat 11:28-29 ESV)
