Hi Friends,

We call Sunday the best day of the week, because it is the day that we get to give dedicated time to worshiping God through singing together, praying together, listening to God’s word together and sharing the Lord’s supper together. There is nothing like being with our Creator and getting to show His love to one another during our time of worship.  This is a unique time, because it is the only time we gather as the entire church and so it truly is the best time of the week.

This certainly doesn’t mean prioritizing gathering with the church on Sunday is easy.  There are always distractions, competing demands on our time and our own apathy.  All these things, and more, want to keep us from gathering.  But as we fight against those things, we grow our spiritual muscles and learn the joy of persistence.

This Sunday we are continuing in our series called “Embracing Weakness:  The Unlikely Source for Strength.”  We will be looking at the spiritual war that takes place in our weaknesses and how God can meet us there.

See you soon!

Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!” (Psa 35:1-3 ESV)

Announcements

Praise and Prayer Night:

We are feeling led by the Holy Spirit to have a church wide prayer meeting.  So this Wednesday July 24th, we will gather at the church building from 6:30pm-8pm for praise and prayer.  Children are welcome to come and join us, but please note that child care will not be provided.

Summer Festival Flyer:

We have flyers for our upcoming annual Summer Festival at Dickinson Square Park on July 27th from 10am-3pm (rain date is August 3rd). The flyers are available at the Info Table. With your help, this year’s event promises to be a fun time with our neighbors and a great chance to show them Jesus’ love. As a church we want to be actively inviting people, praying for the event and anticipating how God will move. Please consider inviting at least one neighbor. You will also notice the invite is bi-lingual, as this is a small way for us to be positioned to love and value some of our neighbors whose first language is not English.

Benediction

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. – Colossians 1:13-20
