Hi Friends,
What exactly is a church?  What difference does church make in life?  Does being part of a church really matter?
In our culture it is very popular to bash the church and here isn’t much understanding of what it means to be committed to a church.  This Sunday we will be taking a brief break from our series in Luke to look at what God says about His church as we get ready to welcome some new members into Christ Church.  I’m really excited for us to have this time together so that God can give us fresh vision for His great purposes that He has for us as His church.
See you soon on the best day of the week!
Jeff

Call to Worship (Playlist)

Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!  Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.  Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!  For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised. (Psa 96:1-4 ESV)

Ladies Breakfast:

The “Blooming Where You’re Planted” Ladies Potluck Breakfast is on Saturday, May 4th at 9:30-11:30am here at the church featuring guest speaker Laurie Reyes. Please RSVP by grabbing a sign up card at the Info Table, filling it out and dropping it in the cloth basket at the Info Table. You can also sign up here: https://christchurchsouthphilly.org/card/ladies-breakfast-sign-up/

Sign Up for Small Groups:

A sign-up  form for our new small group semester (May – June) is included in your program. Please fill it out and drop it in the pocket hanging from the chair in front of you. These groups are a vital part of our community life where we gather in smaller numbers to eat together, study the bible and pray. This is also one of the best ways to connect with people from the church.

Youth Group:

Our youth group will be meeting today from 12:30-3pm, we will meet in the lobby and then go to hang out in South Philly for pizza and cannolis. Youth ages 12-18 years old are invited to join us. For more information email Joe Catoe: ccyouth@christchurchsouthphilly.org.

Church Picnic:

After our service on May 5th, we will be hanging out at the church for a cookout! This is a low key, event that’s a great opportunity to spend extra time together, build our relationships and be the church out in our neighborhood. The church will be providing hot dogs, hamburgers, vegan burgers, salad and chips. Hope you can make it! If possible, please donate $10/family or $5/person.

Responding to God’s word in Song

  1. This I Believe

  2. Make Us One

Benediction

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. (Joh 17:20-23 ESV)
