Hi Friends,

I’m looking forward to us gathering this Sunday to celebrate our glorious God of love.  We are going to be continuing in our Luke series and getting into part two of Jesus’ sermon on the mount.  As we study this section we are going to see Jesus laying out a different idea about love.  Everyone likes to talk about love, but what does it really mean to love others?  Even harder, what does it mean to extend love when you’re being hurt?  I’m looking forward to getting into this section of scripture and seeing the work that God wants to do in our lives.
See you on the best day of the week!

I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O LORD. I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation. As for you, O LORD, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!(Psa 40:9-11 ESV)

Kirkbride ESL Classes

God continues to give us opportunities to partner with Kirkbride School, one of our local K-8 schools. And we still need a few more volunteers who can help support the much needed ESL (English as a Second Language) program. If you are interested in helping, please review the flyer at the Info table and get in touch with Claire.

New Visitors Luncheon

Today, Pastor Jeff is hosting a luncheon for anyone who has recently started attending Christ Church in the past few months.  This is an informal time to hear more about our Christ Church family and meet some other leaders in the church.

January Small Groups

We are going to kick off our small groups again starting on January 15th. Pastor Jeff will be hosting each small group in January starting at 7pm and doing a survey of the book of Acts looking at “What Creates Missional Movement”.  Please attend the meeting the night that your small group typically meets. If you are not yet part of a small group, feel free to come any night. If you need the address of his house, you can email him at jeff@christchurchsouthphilly.org.  In February we will go back to our regular small groups format.

Family Meeting

On January 27th from 5pm-7pm we will be having our annual church family meeting.  We will be laying out our plans for 2019 and prayerfully dedicating this coming year to the Lord and His mission. Please mark this date down on your calendar, so that you can prioritize attending.

Transformation to Recovery Benefit Banquet

We are having a Benefit Banquet for our addictions ministry on Sunday, February 24th, 5pm-8pm.  We are honored to have the Deputy Commissioner of DBHIDS, Roland Lamb, as our keynote speaker. We are also going to enjoy the musical talents of 2010 New Jersey Soloist of the Year Andy Boettcher, accompanied by jazz pianist Dr. Mark DiMarcangelo.

RSVP to Luke Heisinger (heisingerl@gmail.com) by January 31st.
